So as I said in the previous post, we have been busy! First Matt was on vacation and took Nolan to see the grand and great-grandparents in CT. Then my parents came for a long weekend and then Matt's mom came for a week. As such, Nolan has had a *lot* of personal one-on-one love and attention! He has probably doubled his word count in the past few weeks and is making more and more two and three word sentences. He even (very proud of this) told me "ah wuffu" which is "I love you" without me asking him to say it!! He has learned to "march", when he is playing peekaboo he says "oh NO!" when you pretend to not be able to find him. He says "stand up" and "sit down" and does them while he is saying it, he also has started saying "oh MY," can do almost all of his animal sounds, can name 90% of the pictures on his picture cards, can say and point out all of his body parts (yes, including "penis" which we're hoping he only really says at home!) . He has also taken to reading his book "Mr. Brown Can Moo" out loud. You read the main lines and he will make all of the sounds on the pages -- he even knocks when it gets to "knock knock." Teddy is becoming even more important as Nolan has begun trying to feed teddy food. He'll take food and press it against teddy's mouth and say "eat teddy food" And probably coolest of all -- he can count to 15!!!! And they all actually sound like the numbers!! God knows if he really understands what numbers are but it's really cool!
His other main excitement is toes! Yep, he loves toes. If you wiggle your toes at him he goes nuts -- so cute!! And he really likes to move them and play "this little piggy." In fact, the other day I had my socks off and he tried to "feed" my toes Cheerios -- have you ever had cheerios pushed between your toes? Very weird, ticklish sensation! As an example of his excitement the other night he was in our room up on the bed as I was taking off my socks and as soon as he saw my toes he started shouting "TOES TOES!!" and scrambled down off the bed to come over and touch them. Our son has a foot fetish. :)
On a health note, he also had his 18 month check up -- 33 1/4 inches tall, 30 lbs 4.5 oz, and a 20 1/4 head. Yup, the head is still *well* above the growth curve :D Big headed boy! They said he looks great! Yay! Unfortunately for the appointment, the fact that he knew his body parts (something I was excited about and thought would make the exam fun) did not help as the entire exam he clung to me shaking his head saying "no no no!!" Ah well. Here are some pictures I took last week of Nolan pretending to be daddy. And a little disclaimer -- I did not pose Nolan for any of these -- it was entirely him.
